DJ for 40 minutes

Old ones...new ones. Loved ones...neglected ones...

1 Horses' Brawl by the Cock and Bull Band. 'Branle' in French can mean 'dance' or 'fight'...here it's 'dance.'
2 Tattoo by the Who
3 John the Gun by Fairport Convention
4 Jole Blon by Gary US Bonds
5 Burma Shave by the Everly Brothers. Go on, google it - I did.
6 (Somebody Bring Me a Flower) I'm a Robot by Kev Russell - a Gourd goes solo.
7 Little Blue Number by Richard Thompson and pals
8 Merry Christmas From the Family by Robert Earl Keen - he sings it all year round.
9 It Makes No Difference by the Band

Yeah they got it right, I googled it also and it described it just as I remembered it, the signs were spaced far enough apart that you read one and then waited a few seconds for the next one, they were always on the desert highways.
I'm saving the playlist for the morning.

Now that C&B have a guitarist - yours truly - I can now say that the brawl is now more of a fight!

There's a third meaning for "branle". It's what your straight friend does when he dondles you.

Oh yeah, I seem to remember learning that one in French class...Il me branle, ils me branlent... Sorry my grammar's a bit rusty.

Nice list, TFD. Lots I've heard of but not heard, or not listened to recently, anyway. It all goes together very nicely. You get the DJ job!!

Hi Mr Shark: I'm Jean-Pierre's former next-door-neighbour.

How are the band doing?

Hi Mr Demon, a bit slow, but things are hotting up for the summer. The trio offshoot of the band, J-P, Paul the mandocello player and myself - an all acoustic affair called Monsieur Pantin - have a festival in Bruges next month, and both C&B and the trio are playing at Chester Folk Festival later that month.
There's various gigs dotted about on the calendar after then and talk of a new CD. You heard it here first! I haven't recorded with the band yet, so I'm looking forward to that.
The trio have a CD out - samples here: http://www.fivetrees.com/Radio%20fivetrees/Monsieur%20Pantin/
