nightly post

I posted this last night, in a certain context, then deleted it, so I figure I'll post this every night after a glass or two of wine and then delete the post, and it will be like a fairy-sighting, if you get to see it. I'm just in love with this song right now--Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli, produced by Hi-Tek. I'm not sure it gets any better than that. The lyrics are poetry, the music is gorgeous, (is that creamy, FP?). And it amuses me because the chorus is "breathe in breathe out," and in Kanye West's song of that title, he says he has to apologize to Mos Def and Talib Kweli, because he promised them he'd rap about something important, and here he is "rappin' 'bout money, hoes, and rims again."

Is this the song you posted the night before? I've never actually heard this album. I was thinking of a song but I think it was from Talib Kweli's album after this. Something about the rain, I think. It's funny that Kanye west says that because, overall, he doesn't really rap about "money, hoes, and rims" that much, contrary to popular perception.

Yes, I posted it the night before, then second-guessed and deleted it, then, I don't know, still felt like posting it. I too, think it's funny and kind of sweet that Kanye West said that, because I agree, from the limited amount I've heard he doesn't talk about that stuff that much--I think he's poking fun at TK and MD.
The whole black star album is wonderful, there's barely a moment on it I don't like. I'd recommend it to anyone. And I just got Black on Both Sides--why did it take me so long! It's so good!

I found what i was thinking of, it was either one of The Blast or Move Something. Black On Both Sides is great indeed. Also if you find it, you should look for Q-Tip's never to be released Kamaal The Abstract.

You posted something from that in the 'Spill's early days, no? And I loved it. I'm on a torrential quest...

Train of Thought by Reflection Eternal--I love that one too, but it's not as consistently brilliant as Black Star (in my opinion) My current favs from that album are...

and

Which I think is genius.

I did indeed, it was Do You Dig You. I've got Blackstar ready for a test drive as soon as I get home. If you do go for more Kanye West, go for the first 2 albums, the more I hear the third one, the more I realise he's not saying much, and not even that smartly (apart from Can't Tell Me Nothing), which is usually his forte.

I'm having trouble finding it, but I'll keep looking. I did stumble on a T. Kweli mix tape that includes some Q Tip collaborations and a Danger Doom collaboration. I have College Dropout, and I like it a lot. I was thinking of getting the next one but went racing off in other directions.

I hope you like Black Star!!!!!!
