The A list is up, and the new subject is forgetting. But no lists anybody! No lists!

I have a copy of the pixies doing this song too!!

Of course I'll nominate You Made Me Forget My Dreams! Of course I will. My first thought. Other than the Tom Waits song that says...From the things you can't remember to the things you can't forget. Which was that? hmmm...

I'm in a big A-list SLUMP anyway. Sigh.

Oh, Of course, it's TIME!! perfect for what I imagine this topic to be...

And they all pretend they're orphans and their memory's like a train
You can see it getting smaller as it pulls away
And the things you can't remember tell the things you can't forget
That history puts a saint in every dream

Golly I love Tom Waits.

No lists, mind you, no lists...

You know, Shane, I sense that you don't really care all that much, but if you ever want to nominate a song (or bunch of songs) on the mothership, I think you're immune to the list/'Spill animosity, and I'd be glad to post for you.

Saneshane, I'd like to nominate the Wrote and the Writ

Your sentences rose high at night
And circled round my head
The circle's since been broken
Like the priest before me is breaking bread

I'm being asked to drink the blood of Christ
And soon I'll eat his flesh
I'm alone again before the altar
Shedding all my old regrets

The last of which I'll tell you now
As it flies down the sink
I never knew a part of you
You didn't set in ink, in ink

The letters that you left behind
No longer shall I read
Your blood's between the pages
And I can't stand to see you bleed

And I'll soon forget what was never there
Your words are ash and dust
All that's left is the song I've sung
The breath I've taken and the one I must

But I'd like to attribute it to you, if you'd like.

steen -
now if that Blimpy would be so kind as to nominate:
Withered Hand 'no cigarettes'
(I had to buy the album on cd (it so deserves a beautiful slab of vinyl)
or 'Love In The Time Of Ecstasy' oh or 'New Dawn'

I think I have the same feeling with Withered Hand as The Streets - it's beautiful looking back songs - very thoughtful, using a facade of the dirty language they think they can get away with (without really being told off too much by their mums)

and yes 'the wrote and the writ' could have been in a few times lately..

I CAN@T TYPE QUIK ENOUGH!!!!

eeeek! a withered hand commentage!!

sorry, i've been very lax in keeping up with the spillage over the last 2 weeks, "New Dawn" made the b-list!!

aaaaargh- i can;t stop listening to WH, like ALL THE TIME!!!

I hope you've been productive Blimpy..

I noticed you got WH in a b list straight off with New Dawn..

the words on the WH album are fantastic - almost too open sometimes.

I'm a huge Lenny fan too for his lyrics (I don't think this track is the strongest) but it suits Pixies vocals brilliantly.. Kim towards the end just makes it come alive for me.
