Aah the Crooked Booty, an aptly named song. And I instantly love a song called Funky Butt, and after hearing it I still like it. It's the same guy that did Candy Man right? Or was it Chocolate Man.
Big Ole Butt is also a classic. I wonder if I'd ever have the cheek to use it as an excuse.
Well there's Buddy by ATCQ, and also Rhythm (Devoted To The Art Of Moving Butts) Booty wise I have Booty Ooty by Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Fast Man (Booty Man) by The PC's Ltd., B.B.E. (Big Booty Express) by Jay Dee Duke Booty by Miles Davis Greatdayindamornin' / Booty by D'Angelo Loose Booty by Sly & The Family Stone.
Groove Armada 'I see you bady' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crK9Zg2ShFs
De La Soul 'Baby Phat' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7dVUjMv7Og (did think there was more bootie mentioned!) Hey I could get lost in this..how much research do we need to do?
They also have a song called The Night GG Allin Came To Town which I forgot to mention a couple of weeks back, and - unfortunately - comes to mind again here!
Thank you everyone. I was restricting myself to songs with butt or booty in the title, so as to not take all day with it. But I'm willing to delve deeper.
I've been in such a De La Soul mood lately. It's strange when you listen to them again and you realize they've been around FOREVER and how much everyone owes to them. I remember the first time I heard Jenifa taught me I was in a friend of a friend's dorm room in London, and that had to be 1990(?!?)
I'll see what I can find based on your suggestions to add to the list....
...a-a-and in the Even-Less-Subtle-Than-GG-Allin category comes David Allen Coe with F**kin' In The Butt.
We could counter that with Rich Hall's deconstruction of your average redneck: Otis Lee Crenshaw - He Almost Looks Like You.
Actually, that London, Not Tennessee album has two other crackers. 1. Fattening Up - "You might have cupcakes, you might have melons, hell it don't matter to this felon, I'm like a Cajun eatin' gumbo, like Peter Falk on Mrs. Columbo".
2. Tube Stop Song - This'll make EJD miss London! "They got a tube stop called The Angel, bet they named it after you ... Oh baby you're looking good from yourRuislips down to your Shepherd's Bush! .. I like every stop on your body, baby, Arse-n-al."
I need to hear that! Angel was the tube stop where I first lived in London (as well as the first RR social -sob) and Arsenal, well it'll always be the Arse-nal
Okay Ejaydee!! I'm excited to hear it. I was just thinking tonight it would be great to have some sort of common account at a podbean/boxstr type of place so we could all upload songs to a common playlist. I don't think it would be that hard to manage. It needn't be downloadable songs, cause some people don't feel comfortable with that, but just to have a listen...
Jonathan Richman is perhaps an unlikely contributor to the booty genre. In 'The Beach' he lists a number of attractions of a day at the seaside:
"Well now the beach be one of the best things there be, Well a fashion show is there for you to see, See who's bum you like the best, See who's got a hairy chest, And the beach be one of the best things there be"

Yeah, it's Mississippi John Hurt. It's such a sweet-sounding song, but the lyrics are, um, funny. Funky butt funky butt leave it alone.
Anyone else have suggestions? Or are you saving them for when Maddy announces the songs-about-booties edition of RR.

Cheers, Rich!
Steenbeck: I made a podbean list of booties. I can give you the HTML code and you can stick it in your post.
