The jazz quiz you don't have to listen to! Just name the 12 covers, artists or the catalogue number. I bought at least three of these because of the cover art alone ( I won't tell you what I thought of the contents).
Purist alert! Some jazz albums have zillions of different covers so these are the ones I know, or that were the cheapest available. There may be some 'fusion' in here too but let's not split hairs.
Right then...headphones optional but double espresso and neatnik beard stroking de rigeur. I'd count you in but this one's in a tricky time signature...

First one is Bud Powell if I remember correctly. If not, it's CHarlie Parker, which I'm sure it is now that I see birds with a saxophone in the background.
The guitarist in the blurry picture looks like John McLaughlin.
THere's Mingus Ah Um by Charles Mingus, followed by On The Corner by Miles Davis
the last one is Eric Doplhy 'out to lunch'
His covers are usually his profile, an image that is very very cool.
The yellow one with people is a Miles album, can't remember which one.
Don't know any of the others tho'
Miles, John McLaughlin, Charlie Parker and Eric Dolphy all present and correct, even if out to lunch. Ed has the correct album title for Miles.
Agree saneshane that it would be far cooler to be seen with this tucked under your arm than just about anything. As long as I don't have to listen, to it. ;-)
ejaydee, 2' s not ah um but strikingly similar. Sorry about that. Bet it's the same artist.
Well I'm not sure I know any of them (if 2 isn't Thrust by herbie Hancock...) but one thing I do know: I wont sleep tonight because of number 3. Genuinely, genuinely odd.
It's Time Out! by Dave Brubeck, I knew it looked familiar, and just because of Ah Um. And I think 2 is Thrust. 3 is Dizzy Gillespie, but I'm only saying because I recognised the face and hat.
Time out is right. They are spookily similar. Might have to call time out on this quiz unless gf gets his act together
one last one from me (I have a lot of album cover books)
Art ensemble of chicago- fanfare for warriors ...the red one with snakes going across the head.
