As Darceysdad just pointed out to me in a telecom, No 4 is probably a guitarist of the female persuasion (tho' it's not easy to tell, is it?). So, ignore my last suggestion.
Overall, my blogging experience this evening is not a very happy one so I think I'll sign out. And I won't be waiting up tonight for the (non) appearance of the log. I'm just too knackered.
We have #1 Frank Black, #5 Jimmy Page and #7 Jerry Garcia.
I think they were the easy ones.
Incidentally #9 is also of the female persuasion and although James Hetfield is wrong for #2 and #3 isn't Slowhand it is worth pursuing those lines a bit further.
3 has a brother 4 is best known as a band member but also has a solo career and has a sort of link to #6 6 is better known for playing less strings 8 has a nativity connection (think laterally here) 9 sex and the city meets the godfather of soul and a monster 10 sex mad? west coast?
TracyK has got Kristin right! They are similar sizes aren't they?
and Mr DNA has correctly identified Randy California (incredibly chronically underrated!) and Freddie King - who I once saw at the Crystal palace Bowl supporting Eric Clapton and they did a few numbers together as encores. Amazing. He was so much better than Clapton.
Mind you, so was poor ole dead #3 who illuminated the Layla album with his brilliance.
I doubt many people will get #9 - but one of her songs has a relevant theme on this week's RR subject.

i can't see their faces!
Is 1 Frank Black, from the Pixies, or Black Francis for that matter?
and then is that Bo Diddley at 8?
1, Frank Black.
2, James Hetfield.
3, ?
4, ?
5, Jimmy Page.
6, Kelly Johnson.
7, Jerry Garcia.
8, BB King.
9, ?
10,?
Only Page and Garcia I'm sure of.
I thought Darceysdad was using his ow numbering system 'till I checked back and realised all the numbers have shifted from the relevant photo.
Anyhoo..my guesses, for what they're worth
3 = Eric Clapton
4 = Nigel Tuffnel, Spinal Tap. No don't laugh
5 = Jimmy Page
8 = BB King
9 = (Total stab in the dark) Rory Gallagher
Oooer!

Hmmm, Dave Mustaine for No.2 then, probably. That was my other choice, but the coin came down heads.
Yup! Dave "coffee please" Mustaine it is.
3 Jeff Beck?
9 Polly Harvey?
10 Frank Zappa?
I'm really just guessing now.
no, no and no.
A few clues;
3 has a brother
4 is best known as a band member but also has a solo career and has a sort of link to #6
6 is better known for playing less strings
8 has a nativity connection (think laterally here)
9 sex and the city meets the godfather of soul and a monster
10 sex mad? west coast?
Gah.
4 will be Tanya, and 6 Kim presumably.
Is 3 an Allman?
6 is Kim Deal
4 isn't Tanya though.
3 is an Allman - but which one?
Kristn if not Tanya? They are very similar sizes and shapes, those girls.
No. 8 looks like Freddie – rather than B. B. – King (that ain't Lucille, he's holding!).
No. 10 is, presumably, the chronically under-rated Randy California

Ey! I think Kristin and Tanya are weirdly similar for girls who are only step-sisters. Both so beautiful and talented and, well, weird!
OK, Looks like I'll have to name #9 - she is Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney.
Bums, should have got her, dammit!
