Well, I was at work today and I got an earworm, the first song on this short quiz actually.
So, I thought, rock, blues and country has a lot of gun related stuff, not to mention hip hop and rap so how about a shooter related lyrics quiz?
Seeing as a handgun traditionally has six shots, the quiz has six questions;
1) "I was born 6-gun in my hand,
Behind a gun, I make my final stand."
2) "Raised my rifle to my eye
Never stopped to wonder why."
3) "Walking down the road
With your pistol in your waist"
4) "Shot down on the pavement
Or waiting in death row"
5) "I said I've heard you shot your old lady down,
You shot her down to the ground "
6) "They headed down to, ooh, old El Paso
That's where they ran into a great big hassle "

4 is one of the best songs of all time (it's in my top 600 at least) - Guns Of Brixton by The Clash!!
5 is Hey joe
Shoot, I was about to type, "5 is hey joe"
so was I...
No.2 is something by Neil Young. I'm pretty sure no.3 is a reggae classic. I'd've got no.5, but then so did everybody. Is no.6 a HMHB/Bonzos-style spoof? - the lyric is an anvil-heavy clunker, for sure...
You've got to be quick, suckers.
OK, we have 4 and 5 - Shiv is on the tracks of numbers 2 and 3 but I gotta say pardners, you ain't gonna win the shootout with them that Clancy Boys!
oops, that was supposed to be "them thar Clancy Boys"
2 is Powderfinger. Artist already identified
Tim has 2!
OK, we still want 1, 3 and 6.
I'll post the answers tomorrow evening.
No need, Carole. I may be late, but I'm just in time!
1. Is Bad Company by Bad Company. I've owned the vinyl for thirty years, but BookLaunch Socialites were all given it by gordonimmel.
3. is Johnny Too Bad. Originally by The Slickers, anyone with my Non-Rock CD from the first social has Steve Earle & The V-Roys version.
6. is Steve Miller's Take The Money And Run. DON'T have that anymore - vinyl left at a party n Liverpool circa 1981/2 - but I'm fairly sure.
and DarceysDad is 100% correct!
Carole,
As DarseysDad (sort of) said, if you'd turned up to the last Social you'd have 'Bad Company' by 'Bad Company' from the album 'Bad Company' on my CD. I put it on there because I've given up waiting for 'Readers Recommend Songs About Outlaws' so as to nominate the best line about a six shooter that there is.
(PS, I Like your comments on The Apprentice blog. I'm still a lurker on that one but might join in soon)
