Have you heard that they are going to ban cremation in England?
Why, everyone chimes?
Because THEY KEEP LOSING THE ASHES!

Just hold the ball, Stuart. Hold the ball and take the tie. That's right, hold it. Don't throw it. Just keep hold of it and... what's that? You want to shy at the stumps from a half-prone position on the ground? Not sure about that.

Oh.

Congratulations to you, Ton. All I could think of whilst I watched those horrendous last twenty minutes, was how underwhelming I found Joseph O'Neill's Netherland. Bloody England.

Amazingly, and hilariously, Sharpe is on Cable at the moment.

It is the Waterloo episode and it has a cricket match between the British and Dutch officers.

A Dutch general tells Wellington that "This is not a game at which we Dutch excel"

Well it made me laugh.

@ TonNL - magnificent - and I say that as a huge England cricket fan!

At last cricket gets some attention here in Holland, lots of fine colour pictures in the newspapers, but no big articles as there are no cricket reporters (or sports reporters who know anything about cricket) here in Holland...

I discoverd cricket in the late 70's, and became member of the Eindhoven Polytechnic University cricket team: proudest achievement: taking 5 wickets as a left-handed fast bowler (and winning the match) against the Birmingham Polytechnic in Birmingham.....

Snad: I enjoyed Netherland, out here in the colonies we take what we can get.
Holland beat England? we demand a recount!

TonNL: If you're serious about that Volvo take a look at Hemmings Motor News, the March issue has several ranging from $1500 to $22,500.

@goneforeign: I am serious about that Volvo, at the moment I'm in negotiations with my dentist who has a beautiful P1800ES, his wife wants him to sell it, he doesn't want to, but I think/hope that will change some time in the (near) future......

TonNL: Post a pic if it happens? A dentist's car has probably been looked after plus it's close to home.
Hemmings is worth knowing about as a source for spares for old cars if ever you need any. There's several sources in the March edition. Worth a scan.
Looking through it makes me think that I should probably sell my Porsche, I've hardly driven it in several years, it just sits and appreciates..
