More thanks and apologies to Catcher...

Mwahahahahahhhhhhaaaaah! #4

Somebody stop me!! (somebody else has to post something!)

THis is not the first time Catcher has posted an unassuming link to something that I've enjoyed and felt the need to parade in front of the whole 'Spill community. I love this, and I know the series has been around for a while and you've probably all seen every episode, but we've just started watching it and we're hooked! so...thanks, Catcher

I'm the motherflippin!

I like this one, too...

I'd be surprised if there were any acts i've listened to more, over the last two years, than Flight Of The Conchords.

Both seasons have terrific songs which, quite amazingly, don't get old with repeated plays.

Fixtures of my iPod throughout the year.

We're only halfway through the first season...but the next disc is in the mail.

I like how sweet it is. It reminds me of Jared Hess's movies, in that way. (Can't wait to see Gentleman Broncos!)

Nilpferd, there's a hiphopopotomous from New Zealand. ANy relation?

Steen: just got back from watching the new Jarmusch, so I'm reporting back, as promised.
It takes 'enigmatic' to new, and not altogether engaging, levels, IMHO. I liked: the repeated bits of dialogue; the echo of the Ghost Dog (mis)communication between English and a foreign tongue; Tilda Swinton's outfit; the naked girl; the flamenco troupe. I didn't like: the almost total lack of dialogue; the arbitrary 'plot'; the complete disregard for the practicalities of life. Was our hero exacting revenge upon the mysterious controllers of the world, on behalf of art and beauty? Maybe, maybe not.
They should supply the audience with strong coffee before every performance. There were points where I nodded off, I'm sure.

(Having tried it a couple of times, I realise I'm not a fan of Flight Of The Conchords.)

Chris - Hmmm, I had a similar reaction, but I liked/disliked some different aspects, I think. I didn't find it sleep-inducing. I like the slow pace, and the quiet, and the hypnotic nature of it. I agree about the lack of dialogue. Sure, Isaach de Bankole is nice to look at but he's...I don't know how to say it, but I would have like to hear him talk. It felt almost like a runway show -- he walks across the screen, he's well-dressed. Jarmusch used to do these great tracking shots following people that were just beautiful, but not in a fashion photography type of a way. I dunno. And the whole naked woman thing. Just disappointing to me. It seemed like purposeless mid-life-crisis stuff. I obviously haven't formed very intelligent thoughts about it.

Maki or Lambretinha, you're probably not reading this, but the whole movie takes place in Spain--Madrid and Seville and some place I couldn't really identify. very beautiful.

@steen, there's a Gondry directed episode in season 2 of FOTC that I know you'll love!

Steenbeck, there's nothing to apologise for! I'm always glad if someone follows a link and finds something they enjoy, I guess that's what we all hope for when we post links, and it's great to see that one of mine has given you some pleasure. The second season is great, but it's been confirmed, sadly, that there won't be a third *sob*

So here's another link for you, a Flight Of The Conchords song that wasn't in the show, or on any of their releases (I actually don't know where it originates, some TV show, maybe). It's very funny, and especially worth watching for Jemaine's facial expressions:

Of course we're related, Steen, except that it's my swamp which is bottomless.
I've never actually seen FOTC, I only know the odd clip from Youtube. A friend did make the first series available to me recently, not sure if I'll ever get around to actually watching it though. The Hiphopopotamus is obviously a fave, alongside the Bowie spoof, which is revenge for me having to sing Space Oddity way too many times at school.
