In high school in Canada in the 70's you'd get grounded if your parents caught you listening to these guys! One of 'em died a year or so again I believe.
Gary, yes. I heard this on a cassette tape that somebody lent to my brother in the late 70's, with "Takin' the O out of Country Show" on it and a live record I havent heard since. Apart from Derek and Clive, I dont think I'd heard anything funnier. Mind you, I was about 15 at the time.
When I was an English teacher in London - at quite a respectable school in the 1990's - I once used this very song to revise the vocabulary we learned the day before for 'hair types' (blonde, curly, straight etc.). I used it as a standard gapfil. Went down a treat with my class of 16-23 year olds from across the world.
