Loved this one too! Especially the hook, and then the guitar reverb and silence. Maybe you should lower the volume of the horns, I can't always hear your voice.
Thanks, Ejaydee! There is a sample, of the Clash's Stop the World, it's kind of become the chorus. But I did actually play the electric guitar. I have a beautiful semi-hollow body electric guitar that I don't deserve, because I can't play it very well. And the drums and bass and horns were all virtual instruments. It's funny--Mr. Steenbeck said "Lose the horns" because he couldn't hear my voice.
Bank holiday offer can't be refused.. about 1.20ish it gets into a mellow groove, I like that. some bits a bit messy.. about 2.20ish starts getting another fully formed (groove) is all I can think. I do like it..agree with ejay..need the vocal up front more..less background..got be be definite about the vocal with interesting background not taking over! if that makes sense..delete this if it doesn't. keep tweaking it you have a definite style.
it's not that..It's the comfort in your voice..that's what gets into the zone listen to 1.15 to 1.30 or 2.20 on for a bit.. that's when (for me) you are just ok with what you are doing and it relaxes into (maybe) none worrying kind of thing.
I'm very much into vocals and the sound that makes..not just the words..especially when samples have been used..so..that it becomes unique to the person who has re-evaluated a bit of music. (if any of that makes sense)
I think it does make sense--I think I know what you mean. And thanks for your comments (and ejay's too). They make me want to go back and work on it more rather than giving up altogether, so that's a step up.
I guess I give up on RR for tonight. See everyone tomorrow when all the obvious ones are gone.
Steenbeck, I'm probably going to confuse matters by saying I think it's marvellous the way it is. Keep the horns! Keep them! Oh my word yes. And I don't even mind the vocals being a bit low in the mix.
It does confuse things, Mr DNA, but thanks!! I looked at it today and realized there was one horn track I never intended to leave on, it was just trying out a melody. So I took that off, left one on, and tried again with the vocals.

Did you sample the drums and guitar?

Saneshane, I think it's the CLash you're liking!! Do you have sandanista? I think you'd like a lot of it.
