Sorry, SHoey. Blogger was down, and I'd already spent so much time compiling everything, I didn't want to lose it, so I kept hitting publish, and it must have gone through twice.

Steen: I've never heard Broonzy with a backing band except once, that was live in London in the late 50's. He was backed by a pick up group that was led by Humphrey Lyttleton and included some of his band. I've searched everywhere on the internet but can't find any personell for that cut, I'd settle for the London concert which shows up at allmusic.com. Sounds like Humph.
I met him once, it was after a Sunday afternoon show in Ipswich with Josh White on the bill, he asked me if there was anywhere open where he could get something to meat, I took him to a cheap cafe that we used to frequent, beans on toast with chips sort of place. A wonderful couple of hours listening to his tales of the blues and the South. He lived in Arkansas and had a farm.

I've commented on my appreciation on RR already; but still listening to the Dr John & Odetta. Mmmmm....

Also really like the Odetta tracks, and obviously the hip hop, especially the Blackalicious.

Skip james and Big Bill Broonzy were the standouts for me. The perfect soundtrack to todays rainy Sunday afternoon!

hey steen..
you and your family doing alright? virtual hugs come from us lot here.

Did we once do a Stomp song playlist, way back?
cool tracks as ever.

worker's comp was one I thought of coming home..
your playlist needs to be flipped over half way through like a great record.
side 1 : older timers
side 2 : intelligent hip hop

the crackle from vinyl would be the only improvement.

(to answer an earlier comment you asked somewhere else.. family saneshane went to France to see some friends.. then we stayed in a yurt and searched for dinosaur prints and bones.. the Z-boy is obsessed.. it was all cool)

Sigh, I Left a response to Saneshane but it disappeared. Basically it said--I'm jealous of your travels and very very glad you're back.

oh.. it's so annoying when things disappear.

It's good to be back.. I missed your questions of the week didn't I?
but it's gone too far back for me to find.

We are lucky with our travels.. our friends have all set up base in different countries.. so it makes it affordable to visit.. (it's also nice to see them - he he!)
