I love this music

Here's RZA's sound track for the Jarmusch film Ghost Dog (the official version, available only as a Japanese import). I can't really talk about it, except to say what I said over on mothership--It has this strange discordant dissonance, and off-kilter syncopation, but it's all beautifully controlled, and just, well, beautiful. I had a hard time picking which tracks to post, and ended up posting almost half the album, but the rest are good as well. Now that I've probably ruined it with too much hype...

I forgot to say that track 2 sounds very much the same for about a minute and a half, but after that--great sounds. I think track 5 is my fav.

Mine is still on its way, I'm glad it's not just instrumental versions of the soundtrack we got in Europe and US.

Hey hey ejay--Happy Birthday?!? You're supposed to tell us these things.

Thank you, how did you know?!

It's sort of embarrassing, but I notice and remember astrological signs. Not sure why, because my official position is that I don't believe that nonsense. But We have a good friend who's birthday is today, and he's a pisces, and I seemed to remember that you were, and I checked your profile, and you had talked last week about being 26, and....

Nice work! That's funny, a colleague at work's wife had her birthday today as well.

Was yesterday your actual birthday? Weird. In retrospect that was maybe nosy of me, if you didn't mention it because you didn't want it mentioned, then, sorry. But surely chronomentrophobia hasn't set it yet at 27.

Actually I just remembered that last week Treefrogdemon said she'd have a birthday this week, did you not? So happy birthday to you too?

Yes it was yesterday, 10th of March. I didn't mention it because, well I have no problem with my birthday, but on the other hand I don't believe the world stops for me on that day. I didn't mention it because it wasn't pertinent to anything, unless maybe it gets me a song in the A-list. So no problem, and it wasn't too nosy of you at all.

I'm such a baby about my birthday--I do get the birthday blues, and get cranky about it, and want to pretend it's not happening, but on the day I still expect something special to happen like a little kid would. I hope you had a good day.

I'm used to it, my whole family except my sister and I gets the birthday blues. It can consist of staying in bed with the bedroom door closed, or plain fleeing the house, or the country if possible. As long as you don't sneer at the drawings/paintings/noodle necklaces/avant-garde pottery the boys made especially for you, it's understandable.
Nothing special yesterday, maybe I'll do something this weekend. Some people in the office are almost mad at me for not telling them it was yesterday.

I love birthdays (usually), and yes, mine was last Friday - thank you, steenbeck.

So I'm now in my 60th year and trying to persuade myself that the free prescriptions and the bus pass will be worth it...I did enjoy my phone conversation with my grandson, who said 'Grandma, it's too hard to wrap your present, it's too big - I have to cut it in half.' Which was alarming, but when it arrived I realised he'd been talking about the wrapping paper.
