Phono homic = a ring tone that sounds the same backwards

No quick substitutions to something more cool!

What's your [main] ringtone? (bonus Spill points for a good story behind it)

And so no one has to worry about being the one all the others laugh at, mine is Banana Phone. The kids love it.

[pet peeve ring tone - an old style phone. You don't really think you're being clever, do you?]

I've got two tones on mine, both song mp3s:

If it's family ringing, the song is called From Me To Clayton, by 6 String Drag.
That's as clever as I get.

Anyone else calling my mobile starts UFO's Only You Can Rock Me.

I'm wondering whether to set up another song to play when any of you lot call, so my question is:

Which ONE song do you think I should set as the ringtone for any calls from RR/Spillers?

This is REALLY weird: why is my last comment not on the expanded page version of this thread?

Being a sixties flowerchild, mine is the opening riff from You Really Got Me - makes a great ring tone.

@DsD - it's gotta be George Jones Talkin' Cell Phone Blues, hasn't it?

For calls it's the stunning Contact by Brigitte Bardot. I used to run a club night named after it and used it for my ringtone as well.

For texts it has always been the theme from the Russian TV show Brigada. I was in Moscow a few years ago and it seemed like literally everyone had it set as their ringtone. It works really well.

Hmmm ... nice riff, ghe, I'll admit that. Not sure I want to be called in the car by a song about crashing your car due to inattentively answering your mobile, though!

No, I don't think so. Sorry, mate.

At the moment it's the Nokia ringtone, it used to be Cruisin' In The ATL by Outkast, and before that it was La Donna E Mobile.
I kinds like the old style ringtone, but Nokia don't have it as an option.

I've got the opening bit of The Libertines' Can't Stand Me Now. I do like it but the only reason it's been my ring tone for over a year now is that the littlest MissToffee put it on for me and I have no idea how to change it for something else. Not a clue.

Does anyone else remember when phones just used to ring???

it's an old telephone sound, volume turned down quite low, at work I'm surrounded by: Deep Purple's 'Smoke on the Water', Coldplay's 'Viva la Vida', and 5 non-mobile phones with all different old fashioned telephone sounds, sometimes I just wish it was 1980 again, with just one phone on your desk, that just rang once or twice every day...

My mobile just rings, like a real phone.

Score one more for the Luddites: phone just rings. And weighs a ton, and doesn't do internet or anything silly like that.

Just a normal phoney-bell type ring. My mom has 'closer' by Neo when she calls me. My sister has a kind of reggae vibe so I know it's her.

Just hi-jacking this post (Post-jacking? Blog-jacking?) to say:
"NILPFERD!! Open today's GU film advent calender!! 3rd of December!! Top gear!"

I used to have Glad All Over by The Dave Clark Five, being the Crystal Palace anthem). I then changed it to Sparta FC by The Fall, which has a nice bit of heavy riffage as an intro.

I've just upgraded to a new phone and haven't settled on a ringtone yet, so it's just the boring ring-ring at the moment. I might go with Sparta FC again, but am interested to see what other 'spillers use.

Record and use some of SonOfSatan's shouty/cryish noises, SKP. After all, you are already biologically pre-programmed to pick them out of a noise riot at a thousand paces . . . you'll never miss a call again!

;o)

Cheers, DsD, love the suggestion! It'd make me answer the phone pretty sharpish too, particularly in a crowded place...

oh trust me, the banana phone ringtone is good for that too

Sorry, tcm, but I loathe and abhor (yes, both) all the 'musical' ringtones. Nasty beepy things in my opinion. My phone sounds like a phone when it rings. (Which is hardly ever.)

Blitzkreig Bop - that's my only one, though I often dont hear it (when its deep in my pocket) until it gets to the "Hey-ho, let's go!" part.

Phone is on vibrate most of the time. Less annoying to others & also quite stimulating. If on ring, it rings - as a reverse on Tin I find most other programmed tones annoying. Calls from Mrs. S , however, are programmed to sound like a clucking Hen. This is unkind & unfair, but useful & entertaining.

I've got crickets. It's one of the standard options on the iPhone. I happen to just like it, but it's also useful because if I get caught with a phone at work I'm fired on the spot - but I don't want to be unreachable - I've got little ones!! So I turn the sound way down, and put it on vibrate, and if anybody hears it they just think it's crickets. Of course this was a lot more practical in the summer when we had outdoor dining....

My blackberry thing just rings. I have it set not to make any noise when I get a txt in - people seem amazed that I don't NEED TO KNOW RIGHT NOW when I get a message, but it would bug me more if it beeped all the time.

I keep threatening to upload the zzzoooooooooooommmmmmm noise that the fleas made as they dropped from the top in the arcade game Centipede. Just to annoy people. And maybe just for the fun I would upload the slow-slow-fast-fast-faster-faster du-du-du-du noise that space Invaders makes as the lads make their way down the screen.

If anyone can tell me how to upload such noises to my BB I would apprecaite it, but I'm not sure the rest of the people in the office would.

Mine's just the standard ring tone that was on it when I got it. About 12 years ago my e-mail at work was set up to play 'Joy to the World' when an e-mail arrived - but we're not allowed sound cards any more.

"Public Image" by PIL - mainly because it's a wicked choon and it starts : "Hello hello hello hello " and then the unforgettable bass-line rumbles in...realise this is way late ...

like some other people here, mine just rings, if i could put a tune on it though it would be the beginning of 'She Sells Sanctuary' by the Cult because I love that intro.
