Apropos of not a lot...

Not about geese and not about spring but, anyway, I was bored last night so I made a muxtape. It is here.

Enjoy please?

Muxtape looks cool, I haven't listened yet though. Are you allowed just one mixtape at a time?

It seems to be so. I think you're allowed one per username anyway, so obviosuly you COULD register loads, which I'm thinking of doing...

Also it's limited to 12 songs, so it does keep a little bit of that C90 anxiety on the go, even if it doesn't mean you resort to ALWAYS having a minute-and-a-half Magnetic Fields track ready for the end of side one. Was I the only one to use a pen and paper to tot up track times on a tape so I'd know exactly how much I had for the reverse?...

Oh.

enjoying so far
got dark light daybreak cd haven't heard blackout curtain.

Why? is that the same as on the anticon label?

enjoying this Ta very much

Love Love Love the picture..
I might do a spill on demo tape covers I've designed for bands that never made it!

Cheers shane. Deffo put up tape covers, its an artform all of its own. Would be great to see them.

Yes, Why? is the same as on Anticon, its basically Yoni Wolf, but they play as a band fleshed out by three others. The album, Alopecia, is stunning, essentially.

As for Now It's Overhead, Blackout Curtain is just the perfect pop song in my honest, its off the first album which is a bit lighter, less claustrophobic. Some people can't hack his voice, but I love that band.

A comment re. your 'pencil and paper': If there's a Radio Shack anywhere nearby or if not go online, ask for a Time Log calculator, cat # 65-829. It has a feature where it will add or subtract hours, minutes and seconds, I've had mine for years and used it extensively for exactly what you're talking about. It's cheap.
Second, I just checked muxtape and there's one item I'm curious about, "Users may not upload multiple songs from the same album or artist, or songs they do not have permission to let Muxtape use"
First off, permission, who has that? and second, does that mean I couldn't do a tape with several cuts from an artists career?
And re. that 12 song limit, is there a time limit included, could I have 12 ten minute songs?

GF: that sound like an ideal piece of kit, I'll have to have a look for one. Hope they're not too expensive...

Sadly, though, I'm a bit of a mix purist, which is probably why muxtape appeals: it has rules. I would always impose ridiculous rules on myself when making mixes (i once made one entirely without drums, one without lyrics, one with only guitar etc...) and the one artist rule I hold to be sacred. BUT, if you did want to just do one artist's songs, then no, I don't think you could, but I'm not sure how strictly they check...

As for permission, I think they just have to have that there as a base to cover, just like airlines do with terms and conditions and so on. Y'know, web sheriff-wise.

As far as I know there is no time limit on songs, but they do have a file-size restriction, which would probably affect some things. Generally, though, as a fun tool I really quite like it, and exploring other peoples' can get addictive...
