Season for change

A bit late on the waterfowl front, but seeing as my daughter has just developed an obsession for Donald in Brazil, I'd better add my own favourite duck clip..

A playlist for those suffering from runny noses, sudden weather changes, hormonal swings, and the famed German Frühjahrsmüdigkeit or "spring tiredness", a catch-all disease we all seem to get around this time of year when we really just can't be stuffed going in to work..

Spring, by Ursula Rucker
Spring can really hang you up the most, sung by Irene Kral
You must believe in spring, Bill Evans trio
Joy spring, Oscar Peterson trio
Season for change, DJ Krush remix of Guru, Ronny Jordan

Lovely version of Joy Spring. And if it's not Frühjahrsmüdigkeit, it's the Kreislauf, eh? Choh!

I love this duck clip. Always have. One could write a scholarly paper comparing this to Sherlock Jr. for utilizing the various tricks available to filmmakers & animators.

FP, exactly. Here the Kreislaufstörung usually kicks in- oh- just after the Frühjahrsmüdigkeit symptoms disappear. And of course, in Winter we are all laid out with Grippe. Or alcohol poisoning.

Steenbeck, we just watched Sherlock Jr again yesterday, now my daughter is hooked on it- it's such a sophisticated film but it works wonderfully on a slapstick level too. Rented Steamboat Bill Jr. for her as she was keen to see more. Which other Keatons would you recommend?
The self-referentiality of the Daffy Duck cartoon also appears in a lot of Ub Iwerks or early Popeye cartoons, which I think in turn owed a lot to Keaton or Harald Lloyd, it's sometimes amazing to see how surreal and inventive the films of that era were.

Just to explain to the others, Kreislauf is circulation. Whenever someone is ill or feeling under the weather, the Germans will look at each other darkly and mutter "Wahrscheinlich Kreislauf- probleme" - probably circulatory problems. It's an incredible, catch-all diagnosis which covers anything from dizziness to headaches and back again. I know of no official known cure but beer seems to help...

Popular wisdom here has it that sex can be quite a good cure.. failing that, a large brandy...
