So THAT's how we should have beaten the nazis! If only we'd had you during the war, Pat.
I'm reminded of an episode of McGyver, in which the bad guy is some sort of neo-nazi. Mac is trying to get himself and some Holocaust survivors out of trouble, and they find themselves trapped in a chamber. Yes you guessed it, gas comes out, but Mac knows what to do, of course, just crouch down because the gas is lighter than air or something. Cue the Holocaust survivor:"If only we'd had you then"...

Are those Mickey Mouse gloves?

...but it was all a dream.....

Can anyone find RR?

ejaydee said...

Is it a bank holiday weekend?

ejaydee said...

Even the Film&Music section isn't updated.

steenbeck said...

Where is everybooooooooddddyyyy? They at least give us half, usually--last week's list, or a clue to this week's topic...

ejaydee said...

Oh come on, I can't have a late RR this week, I'm going away this weekend.

steenbeck said...

Somewhere fun?

steenbeck said...

Oh, there it is...Science?

ejaydee said...

Should be, it's a little town called Rio de Janeiro. I earned it after last weekend, and I was ill on wednesday.

ejaydee said...

Where did you see it?

here...

But I can't actually get to it. And science could mean anything.
Have you been to Rio de I can't spell it. Is it far from you? My knowledge of geography is laughable.

ejaydee said...

I have been before, twice. It's a 6hr coach ride from here. I'm just hoping the weather is cool.

I'm guessing it's not science fiction, but anything that ends in -logy.

My image of Rio De Janeiro is Big-bootied women in bikinis. All good.
I want Beastie BOys Sound of Science, and if it doesn't make the final list I'm pulling a parkes. And I can't stop thinking of T. Dolby she blinded me with science, but I'm not actually claiming it.

Mnemonic said...

and I want Galvanise by the Chemical Brothers, a double whammy.

ejaydee said...

I'm claiming it! Sampled by Mobb Deep!

ejaydee said...

Rio is partly big bootied women in bikinis, beach and all the usual Brazilian stereotypes, which will be a nice change from the urban monster.

How is Galvanise scienctific?
I'm claiming all these:

She Blinded Me With Science Thomas Dolby
Disco Science Mirwais
Readings In Astrology (Demo) Curtis Mayfield
Criminology Raekwon
Musicology Prince
Ornithology Charlie Parker
My Philosophy Boogie Down Productions
Spacelab Kraftwerk

OOh, I wonder if robots count, cause I've got a few of those. Or maybe that's just the videos.

steenbeck said...

I'll take Roots criminology. ANd the ENTIRE phrenology album.

Mnemonic said...

In current use, it typically means hot-dip galvanizing, a metallurgical process that is used to coat steel or iron with zinc. This is done to prevent corrosion (specifically rusting) of the ferrous item; while it is accomplished by non-electrochemical means, it serves an electrochemical purpose.

steenbeck said...

How about ITT by Fela or Mathematics by Mos Def. It hasn't even started yet, and I'm already trying to bend the rules.

ejaydee said...

First of all, you know that doesn't work.
Second, where's Criminology by The Roots from?

ejaydee said...

I knew I should have paid more attention in physics class!

steenbeck said...

D'oh...that's Raekwon. Sorry. I'm sure it doesn't count anyway. This is a tough one. Do you think she's trying to keep comment count down for sanity-saving purposes?

steenbeck said...

Well, I really want astronomy by Black Star. Though I'm not sure it actually has all that much to do .... Don't Tell!! I love it though. I'll check back after the boys are sleeping.

Mnemonic said...

I'm giving up, guys, I've got ATP to go to in the morning and I haven't packed yet. Ejaydee, will you post the Chems for me?

steenbeck said...

Astro by White Stripes mentions Tesla and Edison.

ejaydee said...

Will do Mnemonic, although I'll be hours late tomorrow morning.
Steenbeck, I think you'll find I claimed Criminology by Raekwon before you, ha!

steenbeck said...

I saw that, Ejaydee, it's all yours. I don't suppose K. West's Spaceship or Outkast's E.T. count?
Redemption song mentions atomic energy. Oooh--Blondie's Atomic! I can't think of a single song that's Actually about science.

ejaydee said...

Somebody will mention Biology by Girls Aloud. E.T. might have a shot, and maybe Redemption Song, other than that. It's gonna be slim pickings. Of course having said that, I'm sure I'll have loads of donds on Monday morning I hadn't thought of.

steenbeck said...

Official list...
Sound of Science
Astronomy
E.T.
Redemption Song
Astro
Spaceship
ITT
Mathematics

So if any of these make the final list, and I don't get to it in time to suggest them, 'Spillains will know that I knew!!

Mnemonic recommends Galvanise by Chemical Brothers, which I immediately mega-dond. You see it turns out that "In current use, it typically means hot-dip galvanizing, a metallurgical process that is used to coat steel or iron with zinc. This is done to prevent corrosion (specifically rusting) of the ferrous item; while it is accomplished by non-electrochemical means, it serves an electrochemical purpose."

Remember me this way:

She Blinded Me With Science by Thomas Dolby

Disco Science by Mirwais

Readings In Astrology by Curtis Mayfield, although I'm not sure if that's really a science.

Criminology by Raekwon

Musicology by Prince

Ornithology by Charlie Parker

My Philosophy by Boogie Down Productions

Spacelab by Kraftwerk

Weird Science by Does It Offend You, Yeah?, and also the song from the film which is by Oingo Boingo

Science by Monkey Swallows The Universe, my top recommendation of the week probably.

Ghetto-Ology by Goodie Mob, may not be an official science. Pre-Lil' John crunkness.

Mora Na Filosofia by Caetano Veloso

Lordy guys - you had your own party going on there! Donds to Blimpster for re-vitalising the This Week's Toto prize. I feel it should be a regular feature as there's so much DROSS out there. Video directors get away with murder. For start, WWII spies did NOT fly in themselves. They were parachuted in under cover of the night (hey! there might be a song there) lest their abondoned plane fall into enemy hands. That video's priceless.
