MAUVAIS GARÇONS!

This was mentioned in the songs about anxiety, and now there's a video. Is there a moral to this, or is the point that there is no moral?

who was this video made for, who's the audience and what's the message?

I think the point of the video is to go with the song, which carries its title very well. These kids are wreaking real havoc (that's how it's done, MJ), and there's nothing funny about it. Are the voyeuristic film crew being punished for their non-involvment?

Here's some randomly assembled comments about the song form the Guardian:
'Stress', in fact, may be the most claustrophobic club pounder you've ever encountered. Its piercing, incessant strings are married to a shuffling beat; think Psycho's Norman Bates doing the moonwalk.
From our very own Dorian:
Stress's shrill, malfunctioning techno might be a backdrop for dancefloor-prowling serial killers."
"Bernard Herrmann goes rave - puts your teeth on edge"
and Maddy just last week said it was the "most genuinely stressful pieces" she's ever encountered.

Hey! There was another song by Steenbeck under this post. I didn't get a chance to hear it yet, where is it?

I was too embarrassed, just couldn't do it, and I took it down.

This video IS extremely stressful. In a very strange way reminded me of the Red Balloon, that gang of boys out to make people miserable, a few years on.

Well I liked the first one, come on... Nobody'll notice, it's RR time. Oh and In The Basement is in the list.

I was getting a critique ready for you steenb!

that was always the most stressful part of art lessons for me 'til I turned around and went "you don't know what you're on about!"
now I'm happy..except that I can't live up to what is inside my own head..so the worst critic is always myself.

Well, Ejaydee, I think that's the 'Spill's first inappropriate content warning. Congratulations!

I'm honoured. I would like to thank Romain, son of Costa Gavras for making this inappropriate video. It's still available here without having to log in.

I can't believe it took me a comment on youtube to make the connection with A Clockwork Orange.

Hey, it's back! I have to say, this did tap into a lot of anxiety I fear raising two boys. They're basically sweet, my boys, but they have these moments of curious casual cruelty that scare me--pulling worms apart in the back yard; today Isaac pushed a little girl over and ran away laughing. It feels like a big responsibility raising them to be gentle. And there's something about groups of boys...

I went to youtube, even though I don't like the player as much.
I see what you mean though, groups of boys are definitely trouble. I may not result in violence, but it's very likely it'll end in some sort of abuse. I guess all children have a cruel side, my niece used to slap their big lumbering sweet dog when he passed by, for absolutely no reason. Also maybe picking worms apart has a scientific side to it, unless it's accompanied by a manic laugh of course. Maybe kids are attracted to the feeling of power one gets when you're cruel to someone and they react in a certain manner that only enhances the power trip. I've done my share, so now I'm definitely vaccinated against any kind of bullying or ganging up on someone.

my son at 3 already is going I've got a gun..I hate it..it was pop pop from 'monster in the closet' but it's picked up so quickly from what is around...unbelievable
have you seen Audio bullys 'we dont care' almost innocent compared to this...weird though having a son.

I think you're right--it does have a lot to do with power, and curiosity about what kind of reaction you can provoke. And you're right, too, that it's not just boys. I've experienced the cruelty a group of girls can get up to, from both sides.
It's just such a worry that they have to go through some of that before they have the strength and moral sense not to become part of it. And an even bigger worry that they'll end up some kind of amoral psychopath like the men running this country at the moment. That's the stuff big-middle-of-the-night anxiety is made of.

And yeah, saneshane, that gun thing is a big one. But if you take their toy guns away they use sticks, and if you take sticks away they use their fingers. They know I don't like it, though, so I guess that's something.

I'm currently watching Jesus Camp, and it's freaking me out. I wouldn't worry to much about guns. I had a few toy ones, as well as some pretty cool swords, but it was so I could pretend I was a musketeer or He-Man, it was more about the imagination. Today seeing a gun can my skin crawl. Somehow, given their mother I don't really see these boys deciding to invade the country that has the most worms in it for their own sadistic pleasure.

its so odd trying to side step it too..I use.. they shoot flowers..(that is a huge hippy thing)..but I have photos of the Berlin wall first being danced on.
(I only took 17 pictures)
so I show 1 photo of a woman poking flowers into an east german guards gun..it helps my well being, and sense that people can be peaceful and kind.
