Alicia Keys' 80s Power Ballad + Free MP3s

This is a RIDICULOUS video, and she still refuses to appear in a video without a piano, but on first listen, I'm taken by it.

And to avoid complete blog fail, here are 50 free em pee threes courtesy of InSound.

It's an interesting-sounding song. I'm not sure it really goes anywhere but it's growing on me. As a power-ballad fan, though, i think i need a bigger chorus.

The eighties influence is massive, of course. Rather than being a reimagined version of the cooler elements, it actually sounds like it was recorded twenty-or-so years ago.

Hee hee.

Actually, I kind of liked the song and the video. Reminds me of the early days of MTV.

ANd thanks for the link.

Although 95% off topic, the subject of power ballads and eighties videos reminded me of this:

Everyone's probably seen it already but the "literal version" of Total Eclipse Of The Heart is amusing.

Hehe, I definitely see the connection with the abandoned warehouse type location, and the literal version of TEOTH is a classic.

... including Iron & Wine who I'd never heard of before and now (having quickly downloaded three of their albums) officially love!

Thanks again, ejd.
