Why am I only finding out about this now?

Being a fan of both Jeff Buckley and Cocteau Twins, and having had the huge good fortune of hearing both live, why did I not know about this until I was sent scurrying netwards today by The Guardian? Shame on me. I am now officially obsessed with this song.

cheers Catcher - I'll enjoy this. They were a couple at the time he died, weren't they?

FP - if you look at Friday's Grauniad there's a piece about Elizabeth Fraser in the Music supplement. It's probably on line if you dont have the paper.

Jeff and Liz, oh yes. Its a wonderful (and tragic) tale. This track is only a taste of what they could have achieved together.. and imagine their children..oh its just too much!

Shame on you indeed! Those are the only two versions in (known) existance sadly. For your further knowledge, if you weren't already aware, check out Morning Theft, as it's a Jeff song about Elizabeth.

That is absolutely entrancing.

Lovely, their voices work together so well.

I really wish that Jeff had lived, if only for the selfish reason that I want to hear an album of them singing together.

Bloody hell! New to me to, the song and the gossip. You can imagine them communicating in their own language of ululations. RIP.

Thanks to the much-missed BalearicBeat, I have this nifty piece of software for ripping the audio from youtube videos. Who wants the mp3s of these songs emailing to them tonight?

Yes, please

I've put an excellent quality version of the Elizabeth Fraser take in Dropbox. Sorry, should have thought to do that when posting in the first place.

P.S. DsD, any chance you could Drop Greg Dulli's 'Black Love' for me if you get the time? Cheers.

@ Catcher – if you’re still checking in on this one:

Do you mean Greg D’s song “Love” (occasionally listed with a “Black” prefix), or the Afghan Whigs album “Black Love”?

If you mean the former, I’ll send it to you; if you mean the latter, I don’t have it. I’ve been working my way backwards through Greg’s career from The Gutter Twins through Twilight Singers etc., etc. I only have one Whigs LP so far, and if allmusic’s write-up is anything to judge it by, Black Love won’t be the second one I get!!

Which reminds me ... how do you lot manage to generate links in these here comments? I've never managed to make that work.

@Catcher - any chance you could re-Drop the Liz Frazer version? I couldn't find it. If not, DsD, if that offer's still on...

Just had time to listen to it now. I am one heap of trembling goosebumps. My God but that's celestial. How did I turn 43 without hearing that?
