Blimpy's Video Of The Week

HEALTH "DIE SLOW" from Lovepump United on Vimeo.

p>I'd love to be given enough money to take a slick yet slightly weird music video like this one.

Did I mention I'm about to make an R&B music video? It's gonna be hilarious. I've already sourced the dancing girls, and the "posse", and a supertrendy nightclub to film in.

Here's the synopsis - "Really hot chick turns up in the club, turns all the guys' heads. ******* performs, gets hot chick."

It's very genre, I know, but you have to give 'em what they pay for!

Do you think it cost that much though? Is it the settings and extras?

Good on you getting the video job.

Figure skaters used to have this thing where they'd set up a secret signal for their mom or boyfriend or whatever - finger on nose, that sort of thing - as a way of saying hi during post-skate interviews.

yeah, so?

Well work in something RR significant and then when we're all watching the weekly video countdowns - as those of us with children of a certain age are now ^&%$%& expected to do - can see if we can spot which one's yours.

Full of ideas, me.

Mrs McFlah must be a very understanding person - I'd never get away with that sort of thing ...

I asked Mrs Tin what she thought - you know, one of those hypothetical questions...say I was shooting a video and there were these dancing girls and .....

I read her your comment too, Toffee.

She says trust is the cornerstone of a good marriage, and if, hypothetically, I was shooting such a video, she would have no problem at all with you shooting the dancing girls part. In fact, she encourages it.

@ejaydee - i'm used to working with so little cash, even a weeny bit onscreen impresses me!

@tinny - good idea! hart and fast suggestions please for the 'spill secret handshake!!

@toffee - i keep a shedload of 'em. in my shed. no amount of dancing girls are worth one mrs mcf!!

@ blimpy - sorry, another question. Your mention of a 'posse' and a 'supertrendy nightclub' does lead me to ask, exactly what part of the Kingdom of Fife do you live in????

Blimpy your synopsis has already been covered by Mud's Dynamite (or even the Cat Crept In.)It's more interesting if no-one gets the girl though.
Was this filmed at the tomatina festival? Someone should tell the singer he's got red on his shirt.

PS congrats on video job. Could Paddy Mc Aloon get the girl? That would be interesting and toffee would probably buy 100 copies. He's looking a bit Robert Wyatt these days isn't he?
Hope this isn't distracting you from Aye Tunes project. Nag nag nag.

I meant Mc Aloon looking a bit Wyatt, not toffee.

@toffeeboy - this is why I'm a super-amazing producer, y'see. It really wasn't easy. It's also nigh on impossible to find "hip-hop honeys" about here.

@proudfoot - ayetunes, oh yes!

congrats on the R&B gig Blimpy, can you get them to draw an "S" in the air with their finger?? or just a wink will do!

debbym said...

Japanther, you're back! Did they give you a day off? We've missed you...

Blimpmeister, would these be the dancing girls??

Blimpy said...

@debbym - i wish!

i did manage to find a b-girl today, who can do bodypopping AND breakdancing!

Luke-sensei said...

thanks debbym!

Well, seeing as Mrs J was my boss for the business trip there was absolutely no chance of that slavedriver giving me a day off! I could moan about the nights that we were up working until 4 in the morning and getting up at 7 to catch a train, but I won't! And I won't complain about the day we had in Malmo where the schedule was so tight that no sustenance (not even a drop of water) passed our lips until after 4pm, after getting up at 6am! Instead i'll just mention that we had a nice morning in Tallinn (yes, we went to Estonia for just 4 and a half hours!) and the beauty of the Swedish countryside just about compensated for the endurance test that was the business trip!

Not quite sure that I want to see Blimpy's lovepump.

Hey, that's Maddy! (dancing girls). I knew she liked dancing but didn't realise the Guardian was just a day job. I get it now, Miss CorvETTE. D'oh. I feel dense.

I really should do a diary of this video production. Every day is throwing up more and more hilarious situations. Today it turned out that the leading lady is a professional dancer, just not quite the sort I expected...

Cool to see how unglamorous it is behind the scenes.

@tinny - the dwarf with the silver platter of coke on his head was just out of shot...

tincanman said...

What's the symbolism of the backwards stopped clock?

Man's struggle to find himself in a low-carbon world?

dwarf catcher said...

ahhhhh
the silver platter of tinny feet

Blimpy said...

And that, catcher, is pun of the year - hands down.

well done sir!

Blimpy said...

@tinny - my field of work is all smoke and mirrors

tincanman said...

Oh, I'm quite sure there's some smoking involved

saneshane said...

in my other line of work, I'm filed under dwarf catcher.. didn't mean to drag the real catcher into this...

..smoke, mirrors what's growing in that field again?..

I love the clip of the rehearsal. It could almost be the video itself. Is that the song?
