Ленинград

Here's my favorite Russian band. Leningrad. Something about them.

Probably its all about Serge Shnurov's voice. But the songs are also so insanely catchy and just made for drinking vodka.

You decide.

They're definitely one of my favourites too. WWW is a classic. Dorogi is another brilliant one:

They are indeed the sound Vodka would make. ShariVari, I was there the day 'WWW' came out and got so excited when I got it home, I almost blew a gasket. Great song, with lyrics I can more or less get my meagre Russian to keep up with. If only more of our home grown music had this much punch!

That first Leningrad number: the opening riff - Hotel California, shurely?

They're good. They remind me (in spirit) of a band called The Nervous Brothers who used to play in our local in Bristol on Sunday afternoons. Much bopping and drinking was done (not necessarily in that order) (or, in fact, in any order whatsoever)

BloodyParadise. You may be right there. The record stores in StP (all mafia money laundering joints and full of pirate material) mainly contain old albums like Hotel California, so if any Russian groups found themselves 'inspired' by an old 70's FM radio track I wouldnt be at all surprised
