Wow - They let go after a bit, then at 1' 21" they join paws again - so it's definitely on purpose !

What the spill needs now, is otter love sweet otter love.

It took a while to load the video, but as soon as I read daddyigs comment I knew EXACTLY what you had posted. I think ishould have confessed to sweet-otter videos as one of my weaknesses. I've got another when I'm back on my regular computer!!!!!

It is truly one of the best, most heart-warming youtube clips. What the site was invented for, surely.

Well this old gremlin is not one for romanticism or "soppy stuff" tales and the sort BUt i have got to say that this has absolutely gone straight to my heart! It is a long time since i have seen anything in the natural world as beuatiful and heart-warming , which makes me almost want to shed a tear- it's "aw-inducing" (maybe a bit "awe-inducing too!)- will send it round the world i think...

I'm sorry, Ejay, this is unrelated (well, it's completely related in weird way, but I'm giving all rational human beings a chance to ignore this). I had the strangest experience today. I had to take Malcolm to the hospital for an x ray, (had to take david to work--we only have one car, had to wait at the Dr's office, wait at the hospital, get stuck in traffic on a shitty november day, watch tv at the hospital that had some asshole with depressing caricatures of Obama--really really depressing) Anyway, it was one of those potentially really tedious days, but Isaac said he wanted to see the skeleton, so the x-ray tech, who is not really allowed to show people x-rays, took us through a hospital labyrinth, and....I was just curious, trying to be all, see, it's not scary, boys--- but then, HOLY SHIT...I saw an x-ray of Malcolm's ribs and shoulder blades and it threw me for such a loop. I was completely unprepared for my reaction. He has such beautiful bones!! I saw the AIR IN HIS LUNGS!! it was too much information and completely beautiful and so unexpected. Phew. It put a lot of things in perspective in this strange way that watching otters holding hands can do.

Heh heh, sorry to go on about it, but...has anybody else ever had an experience like that?

Well, anyway, sorry about the silly story. Malcolm doesn't have pneumonia, so it all turned out well.

la ti da.

Awwww. Paws for thought?

Glad Malcolm is OK, Steenbeck. And it's not a silly story. Sometimes I just look at youmg Munday and I can't believe he's real, I'm still sometimes amazed by his voice talking to me - it's the little things that we take for granted that are really miraculous.

I love otters. One of Mrs Abahachi's patients has told us about somewhere in the Somerset Levels where you're more or less guaranteed to see them, so as soon as I've over the current cold and we have some spare time (erm, about 2011) we'll have to go over there.

How did you see the air in his lungs?! Was it one of those video X-rays?

Steen, I'm really glad Malcolm's not got pneumonia. Gute Besserung!

We were just talking yesterday about the days when shoe shops had a machine that x-rayed your feet inside your shoes so that you could see your bones. We used to play with them all the time; any time we were passing in fact.

It's so hard to find anything that fits properly these days , ... since I grew that extra toe.

Glad to hear that Malcom's ok ... and those otters, Busby Berkeley just ain't in it. Do you think when otters in the wild hold hands it makes a noise when there's no one there to video them?

ottally swell.

glad Malc's not got pneumonia.. steen... you must have been there for a reasons, so hope he gets better soon.. big hugs from us lot.

I kind of find it amazing and sad at the same time, that the little boys at Zs school hold hands for comfort, you know it's a lovely thing and makes them feel better... but you also know that soon the older boys/girls (possibly) will start taking the piss and such a natural thing will become uncomfortable for them....
la ti da too.

(some of the older lads on here have come right back to that stage and don't care any more - but it's a brave thing to do)

DId they really have machines that x-rayed people's feet? My boys would love that.

Ali - yes! Their voices, and the crazy things they tell you that they come up with in their crazy little brains.

Shane - I know what you mean about the boys holding hands. I suppose that's part of coming-of-age, actually, realizing that all these natural, sweet things you do are going to be mocked by assholes. (Did I just say that?) Malcolm still holds my hand on the way to school, and it just kills me, cause he seems like such a teenager in so many ways.

And, good question, Ejay, I was pondering that myself--it was on a computer, I think, but it was a still image. The air was just light - patterned light. I suppose it was his lungs, actually, that I was seeing, but they had expanded to fill with air.

Well I hope he's OK. And a propos of nothing, in case you're out of ideas for tomorrow:

Ooh, thanks, Ejay. Some of those recipes look very tasty.

And a propos of Thanksgiving--I'm going to be in a place with a computer tomorrow, and I'm prepared to be rude to everyone at the table and still participate in MFF, but if for some reason I don't make it till later...I have this premonition that New World Water is going to be appropriate this week, so if somebody could shout it loudly for me, with appropriate exclamation points, I'd be very grateful.

Malcolm's fine, just a lingering cough. Sorry to thread jack your otters.

This totally makes up for the pain I've been feeling since watching "Ring of Bright Water" at the age of eight. That's a long, long, time ago. Thanks ejay.

Shoey said...

Haven't watched yet for the same reasons as Maki. Can you imagine Bambi's mother being shot as the climax of the film - that's ROBW (sorry for spoiling the ending if you haven't seen it - you can thank me later).
