I like the Gourds and Brownie McGhee. I always like the gourds when you post them. Do you have a favorite album?

Ohhhhh...not really a favourite, because I like them all (mostly), but Bolsa de Agua has a lot of my favourite songs on it. It's on last.fm - all full tracks.

...and Spotify.

I like the brass in Dives and Lazarus... gives the folk vocals an almost Ska Feel.

Didn't get in on the string band chat.. but our student house only agreed on one record to play at times 'The 5000 Spirits or the Layers of the Onion' got the vote.. we were all at art college so 'Painting Box' probably sealed the deal.
A bunch of Goths Crusties and slackers singing 'little cloud/ hedgehog's song' is still a fond memory.

I'm really envious, Shane, because my first degree's from the OU so I never did that proper university thing, where you all share a house and listen to each other's music...I did go to ordinary universities later but I had 3 kids by then!

It is a strange thing .. just like Dsd and Gordon.. we are all still friends..

sharing of music was great.. sharing other things (or not sharing) not so good.

I always admired people who returned to study - our son was one when his mum went back - definitely with a different attitude though. and I had to do real work for two years !!!

I have a few connections from my student days, two or three really good friends.. not the ones I used to live with though, as shane hints at, sharing everything at that age can put strains on relationships that time can't heal.. but it was a good time, not too different to the 'Spill really, but much more unstable and prone to bust-ups.. good exposure to different views and tastes, in any case.
