Why

would some people choose these over buying 7 LPs?

Please. I need some rational answers, afore I go insane...

I wouldn't but then again I'm a man. Maybe the person in question doesn't have a turntable, or more likely, not as mental about music as the rest of us. But you probably know more the person in question than me, if there is someone in particular of course.

Well for one thing these would be more comfortable than trying to walk with 7 LP's underfoot, I assume you mean vinyl?

I wouldn't buy those shoes themselves but I have certainly chosen footwear over music in the past. Handbags too.

Never bitten a monkey. Never gonna either. Ahhh the old Manolos vs. the latest Radiohead boxed set debate... One of my favourites. Blimpy, it's called being a gurl. We like to be pretty/attractive and feel nice about ourselves. And great shoes contribute to that. Now those ones you've published wouldn't tempt me. But just as Spring is tentatively peeking its nose round the door (the flowers are out anyway), remember that we gurls have been clumping about in boots and trainers all winter (albeit nice ones). And it would be sooo great just to be able to put on a pair of small red repettos or, hell, pink ballerina pumps with your jeans again. That kind of steeping out feeling can never come from music. Unless of course you're listening to Joe Jackson...

Other gurls - feel free to shoot me down in flames. There. I'm behind the sofa. Fire away.

As someone who owns far too many shoes, handbags, and LPs/CDs, I have only recently been constricted by finance to make a choice. For the moment, music is winning but I am cutting down on the £20+ gigs in favour of cheap and free ones (often more fun anyway). Besides, what decision will I make when the shoe collection finally dies? I think shoes may get the upper hand then!

I can think of far more pressing, and less gender-specific, dilemmas. An evening's worth of beer (even at Somerset prices) or a record? (actually that one's relatively easy; stick with the home-brew). The special cat food designed for Siamese at fifteen quid a packet, which brings with it a good ten minutes of guaranteed affection, or a record? And if the whole point of this exchange is to despair over one's other half's spendthrift habits, how about (at a conservative estimate) forty cds' worth of unnecessary new doors??
