Deeper Into Movies.

Reading gremlinfc's post below about 'Trainspotting', in the comments he asks about the best OSTs ever, which, as is the way on The 'Spill, set my mind a-wanderin', like froggy goin' a-courtin'. And so I started wondering if you had songs that you would absolutely have on the soundtrack to the film you'll someday make. Maybe you don't know exactly yet how the scenes will fit together in the final film, but you just KNOW that this song is going to be in there, and you have the perfect visuals mentally storyboarded to accompany it. I've Dropped three below that will someday be listed in the credits of 'A Catcher Film', what are yours?

Múm - Nightly Cares
65 Days Of Static - Fix The Sky A Little
Royal Trux - Shockwave Rider

ooh - good question, and believe me, I've thought about it. Let my tidy my thoughts up and I'll get back to you. Give me something to think about if I can't sleep tonight.

As I posted over on the MS during last weeks' Rain theme, I have the perfect film soundtrack song:

The Prisonaires - Just Walking In The Rain

... oh and RockingMitch has already been cast in the lead role ...

It would have to be 'Razor' by the Foo Fighters - it can be read lots of different ways. I think he (i.e. the main character) would be contemplating the razor, maybe in front of a mirror which showed past, present and future, and thinking of the power it gave him, to end his life if he chose - or not - the power to change, the power to cut away, the power to get out of whatever tangled relationship / situation he'd found himself in.

Oh, and follow it up with 'Black Swan' by Thom Yorke which can be read similarly - "this is fuck up ..." "buy a ticket and get on a train ..."

I'm quite a positive person really.

There are plenty. I remember the first song that made me think of that, though. It was Ry Cooder's "I Can't Win". I know it's in the middle of the night, in the city. Rain is pouring down, and bars are closing, their owners piling up chairs on top of the tables, while s/he is walking down the street, the camera moves upward and the credits start to roll... Now all I need is a movie to put this into!

I've often thought scoring a TV series would be the ultimate job. I'm usually impressed with Holby City's music. (We just watch it for the music)

The Mum wouldn't play for me, but I liked the other two.

I'd like to use something from Petestrumentals. It's Pete Rock's instrumental album. Very evocative.

Yep, liked all them ones. Going to be a pretty odd movie though.
