Septober, Octember . . . it's the autumn of our days, sigh

Since Flash Forward is currently on The Box - I don't see why we shouldn't Flash Back, to September.

I warned PaulMac that if I didn't make the grade with my noms, I'd plod on as your resident Eeyore.

Comelade has been touring France (the world?) with his collection of plastic musical toys. And the French think we're excentric?

Wyatt has been a favourite of mine since his mesmerisingly metronomic days with the Softs.

Over to you, Nilp!

I was just thinking how I love October.. the third is German reunification day and coincidentally our anniversary, I like the smell of leaves and also the occasional whiff of burn-off from the forests surrounding, plus our local French deli gets Beaujolais and special sorts of pate wrapped in pastry, there are steinpilze and pfifferlinge mushrooms, tasty apples and pumpkins at the market, and the most interesting German festivals like Erntedank (thanksgiving) and St. Martins day, with an evening lantern parade...
Did I mention I know a few September tunes? Um.. I know one, at least.. September Song, sung by Sarah Vaughan.

Robert Wyatt was sitting in the Royal Box at the RFH when we went to the first of Ornette Coleman's headlining nights at this year's Meltdown ... and that's just where he should always be.

Along with hundreds of other fans, I am always nominating songs from the great English chansonnier, Philip Jeays ... who has a whole album called 'October' ... including the opening track 'October' ... express the slightest interest and I'll speak to Tin about putting the album in the box ;)

October ... my specialist subject ... born on All Hallows' Eve.

That does it ..I'm sure 'Anonymous' is pleading for some more Jeays ... look, especially that last bit about the season of mists and mellow penis enlargement

I'll see if Tin can free up a DB spot for October ...

@ BP - I love Robert Wyatt, with a particular penchant for the Matching Mole years. Once met him on a protest march in Hyde Park. Talk about lazy, he didn't even get up to shake my hand. Jeez....

I have September 13 by Deodato and One September Day by Nina Simone.

Tom Waits has a song called November that really sounds like November, but I can't think of any October songs.

Apparently November spawned a monster.

Azure Ray released a track called November (on an EP called November).

The Pet Shop Boys recorded 'My October Symphony' - well, not mine - theirs - look, you know what I mean.

And then there's October Road by the unbelievably-never-A-Listed-James Taylor. And the album of the same name features a beautiful track called September Grass.

All good stuff ...

Of course, bang on is the mighty Centepide, 50 musician's (do the math) under Keith Tippet's direction, here recorded by Robert Fripp, performing part of Septober Energy

@Tatanka
hoooeey - thanks for that. When music dared be big and baggy.
A beautiful rambling mess.

@ BP, yeah a beautiful rambling mess.. just like my sock drawer.

You have a drawer? I have a floor.

Meanwhile over on the Other side of the room, she is all neat and tidy.
Oh so not. It's just that her mess is so much more colorful and pretty - like leaves on a forest floor . . .

My side is more grey garage mechanic.
